Miniature Ice Rinks

In the West, this was the winter that almost wasn't was. But recently, we've been making up for it with more than the average number of snowy days.

Along with them, came some zero degree nights and days.  That makes lots of puddles into miniature ice rinks, just the right size for field mice on tiny little skates.

Here are a few interesting ones from our recent trip up to Olsen's Landing on Powell Lake. -- Margy

  1. As a kid, I loved stepping on them and hear the cracking sound under my boot.

  6. We had sunshine all day today - not very warm - but about 56 I think - which was pleasant enough to open the doors and windows on the sunny side for a few hours - I'm glad to see some patches of sunny days coming along - spring is springing.

  9. Mother Nature is playing with us for sure this year! We thought winter was over when we saw daffodils sprouting and crocuses blooming - but then! And after several days of sun, we're in for rain again! Will we ever be warm again??? lol Soon, we'll be complaining it's too hot!

  12. Indrani - I sure hope it is the last of the ice. I'm ready for spring.

Nydia - We are lucky, we don't get that many really cold days living near the coast. But I'm sure you get lots more warm weather than we do.

Leslie - I know what you mean, but I won't complain about a few hot days if they come our way.

Stephanie - That's one pleasure I missed as a kid growing up in Southern California.

Thanks everyone for stopping by and taking the time to comment. I always love hearing from my visitors. - Margy
