Waves of Storms

We're in that season when waves of storms move onshore from the Pacific. Vancouver Island takes out a little of their punch (and precipitation), but the storms are still plenty strong when they reach our floating cabin on Powell Lake in British Columbia. Here are some views of partially clearing skies.

Heading up the lake during the rain isn't a problem. But if the winds are blowing strong the calm surface can be churned up into four foot waves. That's a little scary in our runabout boat.

So on days like that we stay put in our cabin and enjoy a warm fire in our wood stove. -- Margy

We're having wet chilly rain here today in S. Ontario - looks real pretty but a warm woodfire in a boat cabin sounds awfully good, too! Time to flip on the gas fireplace I guess. I had a nice wood-burning fireplace when I lived in the Alberta foothills, but here in Leamington, with so many spiders and other creepy crawlies, I don't think I'd want to be bringing wood from outside into my livingroom! Yiiii!

I love the first picture with the storm clouds the little spot of blue and the wake from the boat.

  3. These photos are beautiful. I love the greyness which make the light, shadows and dark so distinguished. A cabin with the fire by the lake? What could be better?

  7. That stormy sky is really like in N.-Norway. Always rainy and windy, especially in VesterĂ¥len, where J.-s mother still lives.
I have to put more pics up another time.

  14. I can see how those waves would jostle your cabin about! But living on the water sounds like heaven:) You have such a beautiful view there, storm clouds included.
