YVR to Powell River on Pacific Coastal Airlines

When time is short, and we want a fun travel experience, we fly between our home in Powell River to Vancouver International Airport (YVR) on Pacific Coastal Airlines. When we are traveling north from Bellingham, we catch our flight at the South Terminal where parking is plentiful and easy. It is only a 25 minute flight up the coast, but the views of Vancouver Island, the Strait of Georgia and the glaciated Coastal Range are superb. Come fly with me and see.

Pacific Coastal Airlines serves many Vancouver Island, Coastal BC and Interior communities. One place I want to fly to someday is Masset on Haida Gwaii. Maybe I could even meet Carolyn of Living on the Edge. She makes her island home seem like a great place to visit and live. -- Margy

  1. thanks for sharing this nice video! i miss travelling by air! I should fly next summer from south of France to North Europe and visit my daughter!

  2. Well, that was a short flight! Great photo and video. So nice to go on a short hop to shop.

  3. I have a friend that is moving to Powell River from the Greater Vancouver area. She is excited about the more affordable and gorgeous water views she will be enjoying in the months to come. She will also be closer to her children and grandchildren who love the laid back and friendly lifestyle there. Right now, my friend also loves to visit them via air as it cuts down the travel time incredibly. Thanks as always for sharing your world! :)

  4. Oh dear, that take off made me remember why I don't like flying! But the views were great and I could see it from the comfort of my armchair, thank you x

  5. Sandra and Arija - Glad you enjoyed the flight. It is the easiest way to get back and forth to the BIG city.

Penelope - Your friends are really going to enjoy living in Powell River. We were sold when we landed for a one night stay in 2001. I'm not familiar with the helicopter, but they are starting a new float plane service from Coal Harbour in Vancouver for downtown to Powell Lake service twice daily. I haven't taken it yet, but if you are headed downtown that would be a good way to go (on a good weather day).

Fran - When the difference is 25 minutes in the air or 6 hours via car and ferry, sometimes that makes the choice easier.
