Bridge to Brae Island

The Jacob Haldi Bridge crosses Bedford Channel, a small arm of the mighty Fraser River. It connects Fort Langley, BC, on the mainland with McMillan Island.

The bridge was named for Jacob Haldi who bought the former Hudson Bay Company store in 1902-03 and turned it into a butcher shop.

This time of year, the Fraser runs high and heavy with rainwater and snow melt. Sand bags along the shore help protect some of the park lowlands from flooding

The bridge also gives park users with easy access to downtown Historic Fort Langley. Walk across and back into British Columbia history. -- Margy

  1. We are so desperate for rain. We are dry, and the leaves are falling off the trees. I feel guilty watering my $40 plants!

  2. Nice looking bridge. Parts of Fort Langley I have never seem before.
