Buster's back ...
and Wayne's gonna be in trouble
Hey la, hey la my Buster's back.
If you see him come,
better cut out on the double
Hey la, hey la my Buster's back
Sorry, but the 60s song by the Angels just popped into my head.
This is pretty late to see our resident Garter Snake. But this year everything seems to be running a bit late. I saw Buster sunning himself on the brow log below our back deck.
Wayne saw him too, but gave him a wide berth. Buster isn't Wayne's favourite critter. -- Margy
Even I know not to be afraid of a garter snake, but I still think I'd give him a wide berth as well.
ReplyDeleteHa, just as I suspected all my life — I looked it up, and found out garter snakes are now known to be non-venomous. That is to say, they ARE venomous. I knew it! Aha.
Of course, it says they're only mildly venomous and have never killed a human. Still, I knew I should be afraid of them, and all my life people have told me I shouldn't be. They lied.
Vindicated at last. Tell Wayne.

That's news to me too. I always heard they weren't venomous. But we are of a split opinion. I like buster (he eats bullfrogs and mice), but Wayne just can't get over the fact he is a snake. I'll tell him what you discovered. - Margy
ReplyDeleteLet Wayne know he can come to Haida Gwaii and enjoy a "snake free" environment!!!!
ReplyDeleteSmiles
I am so scared of snakes, no matter what kind they are.
ReplyDeleteMy Critter, please come and see.
That picture sent shivers down my spine! It is nothing personal to Buster, I am sure he is a very nice snake. But I am with Wayne on this one! xxx
ReplyDeleteCute fellow! We've had loads of grass snakes around this year.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid of snake...
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful snake. I trust it is not venomous.
ReplyDeleteCarolyn - We'll be there some day and I know Wayne will appreciate not worrying about snakes.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for taking the time to read and comment about my post.
