Spring Garden Visitors
The week after Easter is my traditional time for garden work. I spread things out to make it fun, not a chore. Over the last two weeks I've worked up the soil and planted seeds, seedlings from the nursery, flowers, trees, and lots of onion sets.
But I haven't been the only visitor to my float garden and deck pots. Here are a few of the rest.
Frogs are singing and munching bugs (hopefully) |
Mourning Cloak butterflies enjoying the mud |
Bumblebees in daffodil tents |
Bee flies imitating their namesakes |
Mrs. Robin helping control some of my pests |
Tree swallows checking out the new birdhouse |
What's been happening in your garden? -- Margy
Great critters in your garden - hope it is a good gardening year, but I wish the rain would give us a break.
ReplyDeleteSince I have to be away for awhile, I've been hoping for rain to keep things watered in my absence. Sorry about that! - Margy
DeleteNice to see in your garden these beautiful animals !!
ReplyDeleteGreat spring photos !!
Have a happy weekend !
Thanks Ela. You have some great bird photos at your blog this week. - Margy
DeleteLove your birdhouses, great garden critters.
ReplyDeleteWe just put them up a few weeks ago, only days before the swallows arrived. Our good friend John made them for us to replace the old ones that got destroyed during the winter storms. They should last for many years they are so well built. - Margy
DeleteYour frog is magnificent, so large! I love the bumbl bees too.
ReplyDeleteNow that the frogs are out we should start seeing the garter snakes. The frogs have to be very careful when they are around. - Margy
DeleteWonderful spring visitors..I like the frog and butterfly. Great critters. Have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteI just started participating in your Saturday's Critters this week. Thanks for stopping by. - Margy
DeleteI haven't seen a butterfly yet but the frogs are chirping away in our drainage ditch. I've been a bit nervous to put out my seedlings, the weather has been so up and down. Love your bird house, it all looks so enchanted.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like the Mourning Cloaks are everywhere up the lake. Even along the logging roads when we ride our quads. - Margy
DeleteHello Margy, stopping back just to say thank you so much for linking up to my party.. Have a happy new week!
ReplyDeleteIt'll be fun. When I have a critter I'll join in. - Margy
DeleteLovely critters. I can't wait to see Mourning Cloaks in W.V. again.
ReplyDelete~
They seem to be everywhere right now. I've never seen so many. - Margy
Deletewhat are those sticks sticking out of the bird house for.
ReplyDeleteThe birdhouse is sitting on top of a branch that floated by our cabin one day. We trimmed off the ends and stuck it in the corner of my garden float upside down. The branches just hold some plastic water toys for fun. - Margy
DeleteAH! Nice to see your gardening coming along!
ReplyDeleteIt's time, isn't it?!
ReplyDeleteI spotted my first Lily bug today... sigh.
I look forward to all your veggie garden success. You are so clever!
