Signs of Spring

Spring is here! Up the lake, there are many signs.  I'm busy picking the last of my my winter crops including chard, kale, carrots and beets.

In their place, I added manure to augment the soil in my float garden for new planting.

Meanwhile, my daffodils are blooming in time to give Bunny a bright yellow bouquet for Easter.

Nearby, the early to arrive Song Sparrow has discovered my new hanging bird feeder.

Up in the bush, the Salmon Berries are blooming, a hint of the tasty fruit soon to arrive. I can't wait!

What are some of the hints of spring where you live? -- Margy

  1. Our asparagus is trying to break ground, the rhubarb is up and a few of our daffodils should open this next week, but spring comes late here and usually struggles a bit, then pops right into summer. I can't believe salmon berries are blooming - I can just smell that wonderful moist woodsy air there! Thanks for sharing!

    1. We've had a very mild winter for sure. I just bought two blueberry plants to put in pots. That's my gardening experiment for this year up at the cabin. - Margy

  5. It never fails to amaze me how much produce you get from your floating garden! We too have had a mild winter with daffodils in flower before Christmas. Love the bunny popping his head up through the daffs! Xxx
