Sun Dog Reflections

We've been having on and off clouds and showers these past few weeks. That makes for some really spectacular sunsets here in Powell River, BC. Last week I looked across the Strait of Georgia to see this unusual sun dog.

It was getting dark, so it was hard to capture the actual colours with my little camera. Sometimes the best shots are just pictures in your mind, don't you agree? -- Margy

  1. A lovely picture! I remember seeing sun dogs when I worked in Antarctica.

  5. Very pretty sky. I agree with you... tough to capture the beauty of the moment with a camera.

  6. Beautiful shot. I think sometimes that the pictures that I keep in my mind are more vivid than the ones from my camera. With my camera I don't have to work to remember. One of my favorite non-camera views was a black swan that go blown off course one year when we lived in the desert in very southern California - 20 miles north of Mexico. It was swimming calmly in a muddy desert lake - and then the color of the water changed and the black swan swam magically in a blue lake - one of my favorite memories and I think of it often when I am taking pictures with my camera.

  7. I so agree! Sometimes you just need to experience the moment! My son went for a hike yesterday. He said it was a great day! (They are expecting a baby tomorrow-ish!)
