You Can Teach an Old Cat New Tricks

Our cat Stick Tail celebrated his 23rd birthday on January 1. He's getting up there in years, and now has some difficulty jumping up onto the bed. He's a spoiled little guy. He likes to snuggle up with us, but gets up and down several times a night.

We hated to hear him land so hard on the floor on his way down, so we asked our good friend John to build him a stool.

It took several nights, but now Stick regularly uses his stool. I'm so glad you can teach an old cat new tricks, and that they can remember so well. -- Margy

  1. LOL Margy, Stick Tail was probably landing hard because he knew you guys would build him a stool to make his life easier...cats have a way of ruling our lives:) After 23 years he deserves a little simplifying though. Does he like to paw at the crocheted blanket? Our cat loves to do that, she even suckles on it sometimes...

  7. Clever Stick Tail ... after the climb I'm sure he enjoys the comfort of the bed
We have a storage bench at the end of our bed and Shadow uses that to get up to the warmth.

  8. Thanks everyone for stopping by and commenting this week. For me, it was a happy and sad post all at once. Just before this was to go live, we lost our beloved Stick Tail. He was a great cat and we will miss him dearly. But good memories like this one will last forever. - Margy
