First time heading up Powell Lake in July. |
I even lost interest in reading blogs and making comments. You would think with time on my hands, blogging would be a welcome diversion, but that didn't turn out to be the case.
Our float cabin finally comes into view, homecoming is sweet. |
I hope this interim period of a new normal finds you with good health and more joy in life. For Wayne and I, we are settling into a safe, vaccinated, masked and distanced existence.
On July 5, Canada lifted its mandatory 14-day quarantine for returning fully vaccinated citizens using land borders. We waited until July 12 to let agents get used to the new procedures. On September 7 restrictions were relaxed for fully vaccinated foreign nationals as well. These are huge steps towards a new normal for individuals and businesses.
A new coat of yellow paint and green trim makes a our home look new. |
After an absence of eight months, getting back up the lake was a relief. We worried about what might have happened in our absence, but our good friend John kept an eye on things. By and large, everything was just as we had left it, except for a beautiful new exterior paint job. John and his brother Rick made our 23 year old cabin look brand new.
Uh, oh. My float garden went wild with weeds. |

How about you? How are you adjusting to a new normal? -- Margy
Margy - so glad to see you back again! You are not the only one who "disappeared" for a while - and some not to return ... We certainly had changes in our life, but much less than most. So, "normal" is hard to define. All in all, we have been quite content with things. Looking forward to getting re-acquainted!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the welcome back. I'm going to have to visit my friends and see how many are still here. Two of my links for my book review post have disappeared. - Margy
DeleteWelcome back! It has been difficult to find topics to blog about and to keep readers interested in coming back. Glad your cabin waited patiently for your return and even put on new clothes to welcome you!! xxx
ReplyDeleteNow I need to plan on what to share without inundating readers. So far it is fun to be back writing digitally, and I'm also back to keeping up my hand written journals. - Margy
DeleteI'm so glad you are back!
ReplyDeleteI love your spot in BC.
It took a while to navigate the regulations but it is good to be home for sure. - Margy
DeleteThe cabin is beautiful! Covid19 has been such a long haul. Fingers crossed this winter will be easier on us all.
ReplyDeleteMy fingers are crossed as well. We head to the States in November for an Arizona RV trip and hope to make it back home after Christmas like we normally do. - Margy
DeleteSo glad that you are back up the lake again. It has to feel simply wonderful. As for a new normal, we have not found that yet. The severe drought here this summer was and still is such a worry. With Covid being very bad here we stay home most all the time so we are safe to visit my mom. But now her facility has been hit and is in the third week of lockdown due to the virus. So hard missing this precious time when we could be visiting her. She had her 93rd birthday without us...
ReplyDeleteIt must be hard having your mom in a facility during this pandemic, and to now be in lockdown makes it even more stressful. We do travel between our three "homes" but stay distanced when we are there. We know even with full vaccination we could still get sick. - Margy
DeleteGood to see a blog post from you and thanks for stopping by and leaving some comments. Your rock painting sounds good, would love to see it. Enjoy the new normal, whatever that might be. We just keep passing each day, doing jobs around the house, some crafting and reading.
ReplyDeleteIt felt good to post again and read posts from my favourite bloggers. I will be writing a posts about my rock painting soon. - Margy
DeleteGood to hear you are back in your cabin. It has taken a long time to begin to get some normality in our likes once again. Look forward to reading more about life on the river once again.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the welcome back. I hope to be more regular now with my postings here and starting in November at Margy Meanders with stories about our next Arizona RV trip. - Margy
DeleteSo lovely that you are back at your cabin. What a gorgeous place!
ReplyDeleteYour cabin looks great with a new coat of paint.
Enjoy…
The new paint was very much needed. After eight years the weather had really taken a toll on the siding. - Margy
DeleteMargy, I am so glad you have made it back to the cabin. Being outside is really important for my mental health. The fresh paint looks great. Have a great week. Sylvia D.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the welcome back. Yes, getting outdoors is so important for mental health. We learned that especially during this time of Covid isolation. - Margy
DeleteSo good you are back home and back to blogging. I'll look forward to seeing you wherever you decide to blog!
ReplyDeleteYes, we got to spend the second half of summer here. Getting ready for an October departure to be ready for November in Arizona again. - Margy
