Sunrise, Sunset

It isn't often that we get to see a sunrise (at least a colourful one) from our cabin home in Hole in the Wall on Powell Lake.

We get the soft, diffused light of sunrise at about 7:30 in the morning this time of year, but we don't see the sun make its way over the peaks to the southwest until about 9:00 a.m.

We also don't often see a true sunset either. At about 1:00 p.m. the sun dips below the treetops on the other side of the bay. We get indirect light until about 4:30, but no spectacular sunsets.

For outstanding sunsets we go to town in Powell River. From there we get unobstructed views to the west (more southwest right now) across the Strait of Georgia. Even with a little cloud cover, the sun paints magnificent colours across the sky, land and water. -- Margy

  2. Hi Margy, your last shot is similar to the one I posted on my Photologue. I took it along the south arm of the Fraser River. I love the golden glow from the sun trying to break through the clouds.

  14. Thanks for dropping by to visit me. My husband is from Ketchican and at one of the coves there are several floating cabins. I thought they were delightful and would be fun to spend a summer in.
You are right I don't think a horse would fit into that lifestyle. Does your cabin move or is it moared in one spot (sorry if that is a dumb question)

  21. Wonderful photos. Your story of obstructed sunrise/sunset views reminds me of the time I attempted to see a sunrise on the beach...great unobstructed view until I realized the sun snuck up without me even noticing it since it was so foggy/cloudy lol
